Mid Winter

Snow
Dead
Cold
Gray
Yesterday was a day for cooking lots of healthy food.
Enough for a few days and also some to freeze for a later time.
Today I will force myself to organize, purge, or clean something, but not sure what.
Brain fog and lack of motivation have taken over for now, but I will try to be positive and push through it. Winter is tough for me, but it won't last forever. Spring and sunshine will be here before you know it.

It's Piling Up Out There

Yesterday was such a blustery day.
The schools in this area closed at noon and today are opening a couple of hours late.
I haven't left the house all week and Jack is disgusted by it all, knowing he won't be going for his walk  any time soon.
I've been practicing my spinning while I'm stuck inside.
Tried some coils or bee hives or whatever these are.
Pretty uneven and not very fluffy, but I'm figuring it out.

Today I'll be taking a break from the spinning and doing some much needed cleaning.
I'll be back to spinning again for the weekend.
Been doing some crochet work in the evenings and hope to have some photos of some finished pieces soon.
Stay safe and warm everyone. It's awful out there.

Snow Day

I'm taking a snow day today.
I started by sleeping in and now I'm watching "ellen".
Jack and I are inside looking out as the snow is piling up.
I fed the birds first thing this morning.
When the feeder is empty they show up on the porch to let me know.

Since the snow is making it more difficult for the deer to find food, they too check the bird feeder every day.
I've been considering making a trip to the feed mill for some corn.
This is the mama deer…
and these are her babies.
They're eating all my trees and shrubs.
Aren't they beautiful?
When the snow stops and the roads are cleared I'll be making that trip to the feed mill.
I think it's going to be less expensive than replacing all my trees.

Beautiful Mud

Well, maybe it's not beautiful, but I'm so happy to have some.
It means the snow is melting, if only for a day or so.
The past couple of days it's been above freezing during the daylight hours.
I was busy doing laundry and I noticed Jack looking out the window at the sunshine.
He hasn't had many walks recently and I know he doesn't mind the mud.
So, off we went. Walking in the mud under the pretty blue sky.
Saw some fungi lying on the ice. Most things are still buried under snow.
Even though this is a weed of some sort, it gave me hope that Spring will be here soon.
This piece of fungus was our found treasure for todays walk.
Once it's dry I'll tuck it into my journal.
I hope you had some sunshine and warmer temps wherever you are today.

This is a photo from last weekend.

Feathered Friends

At the bird feeder outside my kitchen window are so many cute little birds.

I love watching them and so do these guys.
They're watching the feeders for their next meal too and they don't eat seeds.

Wishing you a calm and peaceful day.

Wintery Wednesday

It finally snowed again. Not that I'm complaining...I could live without it after Christmas. It's been very cold here this year, but we haven't had much snow until now. I had to put away my clogs and break out the winter boots to feed the birds this morning.
I feel kind of snowed in (not really...my husband plowed us out on his lunch hour). It always makes me feel like creating when I'm snowed in, so I'm working on some lavender sachets that I will post later.
Stay warm everybody!
A big hug to anyone who stops in to read my blog today : )
