Fiber Clouds

Spin Therapy

Turning
this...

into this.

Spinning yarn is my way of meditating.

This is my quiet little corner where I can just breathe and zone out from reality.

It might sound crazy, but it works for me.

It's Piling Up Out There

Yesterday was such a blustery day.
The schools in this area closed at noon and today are opening a couple of hours late.
I haven't left the house all week and Jack is disgusted by it all, knowing he won't be going for his walk  any time soon.
I've been practicing my spinning while I'm stuck inside.
Tried some coils or bee hives or whatever these are.
Pretty uneven and not very fluffy, but I'm figuring it out.

Today I'll be taking a break from the spinning and doing some much needed cleaning.
I'll be back to spinning again for the weekend.
Been doing some crochet work in the evenings and hope to have some photos of some finished pieces soon.
Stay safe and warm everyone. It's awful out there.

Sleepless Night

Over the weekend I dyed a few batches of wool for spinning.
The sun was hot and it dried in no time.
All ready to be spun into yarn.
Was awake most of the night, so I used the time to do a little spinning.

The Spin Zone

I know I've mentioned before that spinning is my ZEN.
I feel at peace when I am sitting at my wheel.

My latest yarns.
Wool, silk, textiles and bits of novelty yarn.
Happy colors.

I want to say thank you to those of you who visit my blog regularly.
It's nice to have a place to share my creations and I love visiting your blogs too so I can see what you are up to. Your work inspires me every day!
Hugs

Fiber and Fleece

Yesterday I got to spend a glorious hour at a local yarn and fleece shop.
I've been spinning some art yarn lately, but want to try spinning locks.
Wool locks are the least expensive, so I purchased a pound to practice with.
The angora locks pictured here are just beautiful, but not practical for me.
Maybe someday when I'm better at spinning, but for now I'll stick to something more affordable.
I purchased an ounce of these perfect angora curls just for looking at
This lovely angora was a bit more affordable, but doesn't have the curl I was looking for.
It is still a beautiful fiber and I can't wait to spin it.
If I were 30 years younger I would have my own fiber farm.
I live in the perfect place for it now, but the work required to operate a sheep farm is way more than I could deal with at this point in my life.
What would you do if you could go back in time to when you were younger?

One Day Of Spinning

I had a plan.
The plan was to give my spinning wheel a real work out and keep practicing until I could master it.
That was last years plan too, but life happens.
I did manage to get one day of spinning in a couple of weeks ago.
Once life gets back to normal, I'll begin again.
That's the plan anyway.
Have a great day!
