Acorns and Apples

The air was cool this evening and I managed to get a walk in with Jack after dinner.
We were doing a bit of exploring near the garden shed and acorns were falling from the sky.
They are really large this year compared to recent years.
I picked a few up and put them in my pocket, then moved on as Jack was in a hurry to follow the deer trail to the apple tree. Lots of prime sniffing for Jack.
Then back to the porch for some relaxing.
Loving Fall

Chippy Autumn Porch

Found this table buried under STUFF in the garage.
It's so perfectly chippy and it needed rescued.
I've been asking for help with this all summer long, but there are so many projects going on around here that it just wasn't priority. So, yesterday I managed to do the job myself.
It now has a new home on my porch.
Love the big chunky legs.
And it's the perfect place for my new window box.
Made of an old window and some reclaimed wood.
It holds my dried sunflowers.
And the pumpkin from my daughter's garden.
I've been on the lookout for some bittersweet to add to my Fall decor, but haven't been able to find any, so I settled for some artificial for now.

Time to get on with another project.
Thanks for having a look at my chippy Autumn porch.

Roses and a Rooster

Purchased a sweet little piece of art today.
Done by "Craig Peterson", of Indiana, PA.
You can find him HERE.
He uses coffee, paint and ink to create his "Coffee Art".

Treated myself to a sprig of tiny roses in the colors of the season as well.
Took time out for some delicious salted carmel coffee with a friend.
She brought me this amazing clay pumpkin yesterday.
Just love it!
It was a lovely day and a great way to end the week.
Hope you all had a great day too.

In The Kitchen

Yesterday while I was waiting for my friend to arrive (girls day out), I was cleaning up the kitchen a bit.
It feels so much like Fall here already, so I had to display the pretty little pumpkin from my daughter's garden. The light in this photo was a gift from my son-in-law Shon. I picked up the pizza paddle from "The Nomadic Trading Company", here in Punxsutawney, PA. You never know what you're gonna find there. Love that place!
I found this old ladder out behind the garage a few weeks ago. It's not quite safe to use for climbing up any more, but has a new life now as a plant stand in my kitchen.

Girls day out ended up as girls day in. We drove to a beautiful gift shop out in Amish country and it was closed. After making a quick stop at the local bakery we spent the day just hanging out and talking.
I think time spent with friends is wonderful whether it's out somewhere or in the kitchen having coffee and good conversation. It's just the best therapy for the soul.

Blue Birds of Happiness

It's pouring rain here in PA today, but yesterday was quite nice.
Jack and I enjoyed a walk together, then spent a little time relaxing on the porch.
I noticed the bluebirds were busy doing a little house cleaning.
The mulberry tree has given up it's leaves to the frost, and the birds took a break there.
The swallows that took shelter in the bird hotel last Spring are long gone.
The colors of Fall have faded into into gray, except for the orange of a single pumpkin, stuck between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
As it continues to rain, Jack and I will spend the day indoors, looking out.

Hope you find some peace in your day.

New Life For An Old Chair

What better place to show off my updated pressed back chair than against the old rescued hutch in my dining room. This old rough chippy chair had been on my porch for years and had seen better days. I brought it inside and freshened it up with a quick almost dry brushed coat of turquoise paint.
Last Fall I had such a nice harvest of pumpkins and gourds from my garden, but this year's garden was a failure.
I opted not to spend money buying real ones and instead used some of my faux decor.
I grabbed up the pretty blue blanket from my daughter's donate pile as she was moving things into her new house last month.
This small stick wreath was packed away with the faux pumpkins and seemed like the perfect thing to hang on the hutch door.
I'm loving that old chair all over again.
