Old and Tattered

I'm not sure why, but I like the look of tattered old papers and textiles.
I use these for my journal pages.
Some of this stuff is in pretty bad condition, but that's partly what I like about them.
Books and woven fabric pieces all tied up with twine.
Greeting cards and letters from the early 1900's  in an old wire basket.
Feels good to have some things sorted and organized. Maybe tomorrow will be a day for creating.
We'll see.
Have a nice day!

Queen Of Broken Bling

Queen of Broken Bling or maybe the Crusty Queen.
Love her face! It's clay and I purchased it years ago from a shop on Etsy, but it's been so long ago that I don't remember the shop or the artist. I had deleted the account that I was using, so I have no way of looking it up. So sorry…..I'd like to give credit to the artist.
Her body is a rusty old funnel covered in bits of news paper from the 1920's and modpodge.
She's adorned with tattered old lace, broken bits of costume jewelry and vintage buttons.
You can see that a lot of the rhinestones are missing thus the name "Broken Bling".
Oh, almost forgot…
Her crown is an old glass drawer pull.

Even broken can be beautiful.

Have a beautiful day!

Dust and Stuff

Last week I purchased a new phone.
I'd read that the Samsung Galaxy S7 had the best camera, so that's what I chose.
It does take fabulous photos and I'm happy with it except for the frustration of transferring those photos to my Mac. Anyway, here goes………
Somehow, I got it to work and I was so excited that I posted these without editing them.
These were taken yesterday near Grove City, PA.
My husband and I were visiting some antique shops, which is something we rarely do these days.
We don't have space for more junk, so a few pics will do.
It was fun just to look and spend the afternoon together.
It's funny to me how some of the shops look as if nothing has changed from one year to the next.
Even the dust stays the same.

I plan to be back here more often in the future.
Hope you'll join me!

Flea Market Decor

My flea market treasures
   make a lovely romantic space.
Vintage floral containers are a pretty solution for storage.
Pillows made from vintage bark cloth add softness and comfort to my space.
A little chippy shabbiness in my space makes me happy.
Tattered millinery flowers are always one of my favorite finds.
A scarf like the ones Grandma wore draped across an old lamp softens the light and adds to the comfort  factor.
A basket filled with vintage hats is a nice pop of color in a corner of my space.
 Candles are a must here.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find something inspiring here and will come back sometime soon. It  always brightens my day to read your comments.

Flower in a Bubble

A bubble of some sort of acrylic.
Must be rather old as it has a dirty yellowish color as old things sometimes do.
A cloudy look.
I like how it changes with the light and it's surroundings.
Just something interesting to look at.
Thank goodness for the light today.
A bit of sunshine for a change.
It's gone now.
Maybe tomorrow.

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner.
I was upstairs wrapping gifts for my family this morning
and looked at all the stuff on my desk
and thought how I hadn't picked up my camera in weeks.
So, I put a fresh battery in my camera
and got some photos of the stuff on and around my desk.
I hope you are all busy with happy holiday tasks
and making good memories.

Collecting Smalls

Hello out there!
I'm back to blogging after being away for the past couple of days.
I've been out and about enjoying the unusually warm weather.
On Saturday I was out treasure hunting with my husband as we  do most weekends.
We've gotten to the point where we have to purge something from our home each time we bring in something new. The clutter makes me nervous, so I'm doing my best to keep it under control, but our love of antiques is making it difficult. If it gets any worse, we may have to open a shop of our own.
I was careful to bring home only tiny items this time as they take up less space.
The first thing I found was this sweet little glass cloche.
If you look closely you can see a pearl inside.
This gives you an idea of how small this cloche is.
I'm thinking of using it to display a tiny birds nest with some tiny eggs.

Next I found this tiny piece of pottery.
It can hold a tea light or maybe some beads for jewelry making.
Flower frogs make the best little displays for photos.
This one is small enough to hold a postage stamp.

In fact I think it may be just right for that little glass cloche.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with this aluminum top hat, but it was just too cute to pass up.

If you've never gone junkin you should try it sometime.
Just be careful.
It's addicting.

Don't forget tomorrow is "Groundhog Day".
There will be lots of excitement going on here in Punxsutawney, PA.
As for me, I'll be doing my best to avoid all the hoopla.

See ya soon!
