Crafting For Christmas

Busy making little gifts for friends and family.
Repurposing a lot of things that I've collected over time.
 Upcycled wreaths and bird cages.
A crocheted nest made of jute resting upon a soft bed of mohair.
Thanks for stopping by.

The Super Chunky Scarf

I was browsing some of my favorite shops on Etsy recently and came across the biggest, snuggly, thick, scarf ever. The problem is I can never buy something for myself that I can make for myself.
So…I made one.
 It's about 8 feet long.
I used SINCERELY CHUNKY, Purl Essence, Everyday yarn from JoAnn's.
Long, ribbed, rows of single crochet done with a size P hook.
 It took about 3 skeins.
Finished it just in time for the cold weather we are having already.
Winter is upon us.

Blue Birds of Happiness

It's pouring rain here in PA today, but yesterday was quite nice.
Jack and I enjoyed a walk together, then spent a little time relaxing on the porch.
I noticed the bluebirds were busy doing a little house cleaning.
The mulberry tree has given up it's leaves to the frost, and the birds took a break there.
The swallows that took shelter in the bird hotel last Spring are long gone.
The colors of Fall have faded into into gray, except for the orange of a single pumpkin, stuck between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
As it continues to rain, Jack and I will spend the day indoors, looking out.

Hope you find some peace in your day.

Paper Christmas Trees

It's that time of year , when my husband takes off with his daughters to do a bit of fishing up north.
While they are in NY fishing, I spend the week with my mother doing crafty things and shopping.
Our craft project this year was paper Christmas trees.
Mother made her tree with scrapbook paper.
It was kind of stiff and the ends didn't curl up easily, so I got out an old curling iron and it worked perfectly.
I made my tree from old sheet music pages.
The sheet music paper was thinner and I used a glue stick to wrap the ends of the paper and give it some curl.
We had lots of laughs while working on this project together and a few burns from the hot glue.
It was simple and fun…the best kind of project I think.

The Pouf and Shop Update

Wow!
I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last post.
Life keeps happening and time is just flying by. There have been so many things going on and I haven't been able to do all the things I had planned. My little Etsy shop will still be opening tonight at midnight, despite life's recent challenges.
Please stop by and have a look.
I will be adding new items every week.

I wanted to share a photo of the pouf that I made recently.
When things get stressful and I can't sleep, I crochet.
Thanks for stopping by!

A New Shop Opening

Hi everyone!
I would like to announce the opening of my NEW SHOP.
SHABBY CHIC, PRAIRIE, COTTAGE, and RUSTIC wares for you and your home.
I am planning to have it up and running November 1, 2014.
The shop will be filled with lots of vintage goodies and some handmade items as well.
Some of the things you will find there are vintage clothing like these:
Some for wearing and some for display.
Decorative Items

 Useful Items

 Crafting Supplies
 Handmade Gifts

These are just a few examples of the many handpicked and handmade items that will be available.
My goal is to keep the shop filled with interesting, reclaimed, vintage items at affordable prices.
I want folks to be able to have that Shabby Chic or Prairie Style look that you see in all the magazines, without having to spend a ton of money.

Items listed in the shop will be featured HERE at
www.shabbylaundrydrygoods.blogspot.com, where you can view more photos of the items you find interesting and also gather ideas for using them in your own home.

A huge THANK YOU to all of my readers and followers.
Please take a moment to stop in at www.shabbylaundrydrygoods.blogspot.com and follow along for a chance to win a pretty lavender sachet. A winner will be chosen on November 1st. I hope you will join me there.

May you find peace in your day!
