A New Shop Opening

Hi everyone!
I would like to announce the opening of my NEW SHOP.
SHABBY CHIC, PRAIRIE, COTTAGE, and RUSTIC wares for you and your home.
I am planning to have it up and running November 1, 2014.
The shop will be filled with lots of vintage goodies and some handmade items as well.
Some of the things you will find there are vintage clothing like these:
Some for wearing and some for display.
Decorative Items

 Useful Items

 Crafting Supplies
 Handmade Gifts

These are just a few examples of the many handpicked and handmade items that will be available.
My goal is to keep the shop filled with interesting, reclaimed, vintage items at affordable prices.
I want folks to be able to have that Shabby Chic or Prairie Style look that you see in all the magazines, without having to spend a ton of money.

Items listed in the shop will be featured HERE at
www.shabbylaundrydrygoods.blogspot.com, where you can view more photos of the items you find interesting and also gather ideas for using them in your own home.

A huge THANK YOU to all of my readers and followers.
Please take a moment to stop in at www.shabbylaundrydrygoods.blogspot.com and follow along for a chance to win a pretty lavender sachet. A winner will be chosen on November 1st. I hope you will join me there.

May you find peace in your day!

Picky Picking

In summers past my husband and I would go to just about every flea market within driving distance and then some on the weekends. It's something that we enjoy doing together and our daughters love the hunt as well. So far this year we've been to only 2, spending most of our weekends gardening and working on projects here at home. We've become pretty picky when picking because we already have too much stuff. We try to only pick those things that we are positive we can use or things that we really love and feel that we can't live without ; ) Like this bird cage stand that we found on Saturday.
It's the perfect stand for the old birdcage that I've had forever.
It's hand made and has the same look as our light fixtures in the kitchen.
Although it would make a nice home for a bird, it makes a wonderful plant stand too.
It was one of those things that I knew we would use.

My husband found this chicken which I wasn't sure about at first, but love it now.

My daughter did this lovely chalk art for me.
The chalk board was one of last years flea market finds.
It all fits together so well.
It feels great to have the kitchen decluttered.
 Simple and sweet.

Oink Oink Woof Babushka

Hello!
Hey, it's the weekend!
I'm busy getting ready for the tea party that my girls and I are having on Sunday.
There will be a lot of photos next week, so I wanted to take a minute today to introduce Oink 1 and 2, Woof and Babushka. Four kitschy wooden pieces that I've added to the kitschy corner of my kitchen.
This is OINK
and OINK,
WOOF
and BABUSHKA.

That's TRAINWRECK to the left of BABUSHKA.
He's shy.
I'm enjoying these more in my kitchen than I did tucked away downstairs in the Creating Room.
Someday I'll take them back there, but for now they are brightening up the kitchen.
Such a cute bunch, these reconsidered ones.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Check back next week for lots of tea party madness.

In The Kitchen

The kitchen needed a little freshening up (a lot of cleaning up), so I watched the snow fall and listened to the wind while I stayed inside where it was nice and cozy.
With the weather being a bit depressing, I wanted to add a little cheerful color to the kitchen.
It's where I spend most of my time, so it needs to be a happy place.
There must be candles on a cold gray day like today.
And some honey for my tea.

Salad forks in a vintage bowl.
Flea market silver, plates and napkins.

A vintage flowered apron with ruffles.
Now that makes me happy.

A collection of odds and ends silver in an old pot.

I love this old scale. It belonged to my husbands parents.

I have a thing for scales.
There are three of them in my kitchen and several more throughout the house.
Love my coffee too!

A fresh new ribbon for the chicken.
A strip of torn recycled fabric.

A little organizing and a lot of scrubbing.

The freshest thing of all...a little bit of green.
After all of this freshening up, I was too tired to cook dinner.
We ate cereal tonight.
Hope you had a better dinner than mine.
Hugs

White Kitchen Accents

I love the look of an all white kitchen, but my kitchen is just three years old so there's no changing it now.
The cupboards are dark cherry and my chairs, stools and counter tops are black.
Even with two skylights and three big windows it still seems dark, so I've made all my accents white to brighten things up a bit.
This table and little cabinet were a chippy green.
I painted them last week with a fresh coat of white.

This shelf was made by a friend years ago and was also green.

The display box was found in a barn a long time ago and had been green as well.

There are white ironstone dishes here and there.

A pretty white apron.

There are many more white accents throughout the kitchen and it is a much brighter room now.
I think when I paint the walls next time they will be white too.
That should be all it needs to really brighten things up.

See ya soon.

Nesting

August is a nesting month for me.
Cleaning, organizing, and preparing for the long, cold months ahead.
It feels like Fall here already, with temps in the 40's last night.
Anyway, while working in my kitchen, I noticed that there are quite a few birds nesting there as well.

There's this chippy, vintage, ceramic chicken.
It has a hook on the bottom for hanging towels or pot holders.

There's also this cute little ceramic pie bird.
I don't bake many pies, but it looks cute sitting on the shelf.

Here's another chicken.

And another.

And a sweet little bird.

No wonder I feel like nesting.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Is anybody else nesting?
