Felt Good

Hi!
I've been busy felting goodies for some upcoming craft events and for some gifts too.
I'm finally getting around to stringing a few of the beads I've made.

I added some wool beads to the tops of these hair sticks or shawl sticks.

A friend gifted me a purple pin cushion a couple of years ago and I just loved it, so I thought I'd give that a try too.

I've stitched together some envelopes from the sheets of felt I made a few weeks ago.

Then there's this...

It was my first attempt at a felted vessel and it was a complete failure however...

I refuse to waste wool so...
I added some stitching and a few ceramic beads and I love it.
Even the little wool pebbles were a failed attempt at sweater beads a couple of years ago. I knew I would use them for something. Although the felting part of this bowl didn't turn out well, I love the colors and textures. It reminds me of cotton candy.

So, don't throw away those pieces that don't turn out quite right.
You'll use them some day for something.
This is how hoarders are born : )

A Necessary Thing

My day just doesn't feel complete unless I take time out for a little creating.
Whether it's a few felted rocks...
 a silly little bird...
or just a few beads.
My day's always better when I create something.

Keeping It Simple

I'm not sure if this is Prairie Style...
or Shabby Chic...

I'm just...

keeping it simple.

I think simple is best.

What's your style?

Shabby Chic Floral Arrangement

Don't you just love fresh flowers in your kitchen?

I love being able to step outside and gather flowers from my garden.
Some wild daisies would look good in these vintage milk bottles as well.

I think the long wire basket is perfect for displaying this arrangement.
Maybe I'll find time to gather some wild flowers tomorrow.
I think Queen Ann's Lace would be nice.
What is blooming where you are?
(Marcie, I know cotton is blooming at your house : )
Have a great weekend everyone!

A Visit To Autumn House Farm

Hi everyone!
Yesterday I made another trip over to Autumn House Farm.
I was hoping to get lots of good photos to share, but the much prayed for rain came pouring down and taking pictures was not an option. I did manage to get three photos just minutes before the rain.
This beautiful old tree stands in front of the house.
This sweet little barn cat was there to greet me at the sheep barn.

A few of the sheep inside the barn. Not a very good photo...there wasn't much light and I didn't want to use a flash and scare the sheep.
Harriet, the owner of Autumn House Farm, had invited me over to see some of the antiques from her parent's estate. I purchased this wonderful old wooden seed box.

I took a few felted stones along to give to Harriet.
I had felted them using some of the wool I had purchased there earlier in the week.
Autumn House Farm is such a feel good place.
It's a family run farm that's been in business since the 1800's.
I will be visiting there again soon and will be posting more photos and a schedule of events to be held there this Fall. If you love fiber...you'll love this place. The shop is open by appointment only at this time and is located in Rochester Mills, Indiana County, PA.

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll be posting more information about this wonderful fiber heaven soon.

Crocheted Baskets and A Wall Hanging

Hi!
Although I've been learning how to wet felt, I still have made time for some late night crochet projects.
Like this pretty blue basket.

And this crazy looking one.

Both were made by crocheting around some jute rope.

Then there's this...

I'm calling it a "Wall Hanging"

A sort of pod vine wall hanging.

It might be time to use some patterns for a while.
I'm thinking this might be one of those creations that "nobody understands".

See you soon.

Felt Love

Yesterday I visited a local sheep farm and was blown away by it all.
Harriet, the owner, took me on a tour of all the buildings where the wool is processed and I felt like I was in heaven. I'd never seen so much wool and so many colors to choose from. I am hoping to return there soon and will have photos to show you when I do. I can't wait to go back there!

Today, I would like to share a few photos of the felting that I've been working on.
Bright colored bangles.

A beautiful white scarf made of wool, silk and cotton.

A scarf with wool curls.

Lots of beads.

I think working with wool is like creating magic. The textures and colors are so inspiring and the possibilities are endless.
I hope you are creating a little magic where you are too.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Vintage Fashion

Hi everyone!
I'm still here and I've been busier than ever creating, gardening and collecting.
I have so many things to share with you all and will do just that as soon as I get some photos taken.
That being said...
I wanted to take a minute to share with you a sweet little Etsy shop.
It's my daughter's shop and it's filled with awesome vintage fashions and accessories.
Like this super fabulous suit from the 50's.
It still has the tags attached and it is in mint condition.
I tried it on and was hoping it would fit me, but no luck.
I'm not kidding...this is the most awesome vintage suit I've ever seen!!!

How about this one?
Just beautiful!

Or this one...

If you are into vintage fashion, Reds Threads Vintage, has an amazing collection to choose from in a variety of sizes. I hope you'll click on over there to see what she has to offer.

Thanks for stopping by.
