I've always loved collecting old books and thought I might share with you a few of my latest finds. The one with the pretty lady on the front was a freebie from my local thrift shop. I was in there browsing and they announced that each customer was welcome to three free books. How nice was that? The children's book called "Ameliar-Anne and the Green Umbrella" was a flea market find from this past summer. It has the most lovely illustrations. The tiny "French Self Taught" was a free gift from an Etsy purchase I made of an old wooden bowl. Don't you just love old books?
Lovely! Sadly, I tend to be allergic to old books... but I want to try making this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kirstyneale/5100360090/
ReplyDelete(I seem to recall somewhere around here selling old Harlequin Romances for 10 cents each... they'd work for that.)
Thanks for sharing. That peaar is awesome!
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous books. I would love to make buttons from some of those old illustrations. They are great. I am always on the lookout for old books with illustrations in them. Sometimes I get lucky and find a good one. I like to read the stories too. Some of them are so cute and heartwarming. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Rita
Hi Karen- actually, the flying squirrel thing was really funny. I was hooping and hollering. The silly little things just kept buzzing around the edges of the cabinets. I wish I had thought of the towel thing earlier. Why oh why did I think a bucket would work?? duh. I checked out your blog- really lovely stuff!! I just moved to Maine from Pa. a year ago. We lived in Lancaster county. I'm also a nurse, and I LOVE Big Head Todd and and Monsters!! Please come back!! And I'll be visint your blog too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great night! Lee
