Owl Hat For Vera
The past couple of weeks have gone by so quickly.
My stepdaughter Anita and grand baby Vera have been here visiting from NC.
They are leaving this afternoon to spend time with another grandma.
It's going to be so quiet around here.
In between the playing and feedings and all the other baby stuff, I managed to make Vera a little owl hat. It's a bit big for her , but she'll grow into it.
Oh dear!!! I'm gonna miss her!

Making Yarn
I had a kind of free day yesterday.
Nobody here but the dog and me.
I used the time for making yarn.
As you can see, I need a lot more practice.
I'm spinning from my own carded batts, which is a little more difficult than spinning from roving.
Even though my yarn is far from perfect, I like the way it looks in a finished piece.
Thick and thin.
This yarn was made from all the little bits and pieces of wool that were left over from lots of past projects.
Finished bag.
I took some time to finish up a couple of crochet projects that were nearly done as well.
Here is a simple neck piece that was done with store bought yarn.
This cowl was also crocheted using yarn that was machine made.
I think over all I like the more imperfect look of my hand spun over the mass produced machine made.
I plan to keep on trying to master my spinning wheel in the days and weeks ahead.
Okay...maybe years.
It's not as easy as I thought it would be.
My goal is to become even half as good as Jacey Boggs.
Her art spun yarn is too cool to even use.
Maybe some day.............
Thanks for listening to me babble on.

In The Zone
What do you do to create a stress free zone in your world?
Today I did my best to block out life's little annoyances by spending some time with my spinning wheel.
The gentle whirring sound of the wheel and the rhythm of the treadle seem calming as I concentrate on drafting the fiber.
It puts me in "The Zone".
"The Zone" is a quiet, peaceful place, a ZEN kind of place, where the dog doesn't have fleas, where people are kind, where the washing machine isn't leaking, where there is no pain and everything is lovely. You know what I mean. Just a little piece of time where you can block out the world and just be.

Crocheted Mushrooms
I'm so sorry I can't offer instructions for these little mushrooms.
I rarely use a pattern when I crochet and tend to make things up as I go along.
I'm pretty sure you could find a tutorial for something similar on one of the crochet pattern sites.
No pattern for these either...SORRY. Just some beads I made while watching TV.
Some old architectural pieces with a bit of fresh paint.
I guess I'm in a bit of a funk today.
Sorry all.
