A Trip To Yarnick's Farm Market

Every Fall, Mother and I make a trip to Yarnick's Farm Market.
 We love the giant chicken.
We picked out some beautiful apples and a few other goodies as well.
Like a raspberry pie that was absolutely awesome.
I love the herb and lettuce greenhouse room.

We are always delighted to see the goats that graze along the edge of the road on our way there.

It's a fun little tradition that Mother and I have, to visit certain special places together each Fall.
It makes me happy to see Mother smiling.

Happy Fall

Primitive Pumpkins

When I'm out browsing the flea markets I always come across a booth or two with handmade primitive folk art.  I love the stuff, but rarely purchase it because I know I can make similar items myself.
Last weekend was no exception.
I came across a wonderful booth all decked out in Primitive Fall Folk Art.
This time I actually got busy and made myself a few simple pieces.
I made these pumpkins from an old chenille bedspread and stained them with a mixture of strong instant coffee and vanilla nut flavoring. They have a wonderful fragrance just like the gift shop candles that smell of gourmet coffee.
The basket was a flea market find that I got for just $2 and the leaves and sunflowers are from my garden.
These were made from an old pillow case and a tattered doily.
 I just love Fall.
Don't you?

Handmade Velvet Pumpkins

Tis the season for making pumpkins.
I made these using recycled materials.
The velvet was from an antique bed jacket and the lace and ribbon are old and recycled too.
The pedestals were once candle holders.

I made a few dark orange velvet ones and the witches hat with a mix of new and recycled materials.

The old velvet album and the antique shoes were fleamarket finds and remind me of a witches shoes and her book of spells.

Each year at this time I make new pumpkins.
I think these are my favorite so far.
Happy Fall Everyone!
