Organize
I've noticed fellow bloggers sharing their words for the new year.
Although I'm not very good at keeping up with what's going on in blog land or why people post what they post, I like the idea of having a word for the new year.
Last year, for me, it was all about keeping things SIMPLE.
This simple white chippy window frame is one of my latest found treasures.
I picked it up for $20 at "The Antique Emporium" in Ebensburg, PA.
They had 2 left if you're in the area and you're interested. The glass has been replaced with screen, but I'm thinking of removing the screen and inserting chicken wire.
To me, keeping it simple means repurposing whatever I can whenever I can.
This stuffed leather heart was made from a repurposed coat that I found at the local thrift shop.
I will continue to seek simplicity forever I think.
I've found that keeping it simple is difficult when there is a lot of clutter surrounding me.
That being said...this years word for me is ORGANIZE.
I do love my "STUFF" and can never imagine being a minimalist, but in order to "keep things simple", I need the "stuff" to be organized.
In the months ahead, I will be doing just that...
getting organized.
I plan to share photos of my ideas for keeping organized and will be selling the overflow.
I'm not sure if I will be selling on Etsy or Ebay, but either way, there will be a lot of vintage and antique items for sale.
Today I plan to start with this ...
It's just a small mess, but I need to start somewhere, so here goes...
Stay warm everybody.
It's cold out there.

Back To Bed
It's Monday, it's cold, and it's snowing.
I should have called this post "Bitch and Moan Monday".
I just want to go here...
soak in the tub...
put on my handmade pajamas...
and go back to bed.
However...
I goofed off all weekend and now it's time to get busy.
No going back to bed for me.
I must have been dreaming.
How about you?

Jar Of Hearts
Last year at this time I started a Jar Of Hearts.
They were tattered hearts adorned with bits of lace and blue silk from an antique dress.
This years tattered hearts were also made from bits and pieces.
An old sweater, torn doilies and scraps of this and that.
The jar is only half full, so there is lots more room for tattered hearts.
I'll be adding to the jar until Valentine's Day.
You can never have too many hearts.

Crocheted Garland
A few months ago I found some old vintage curtain rings in a box in the basement.
I did a simple single crochet around each one and tied them together to make a colorful garland.
The pretty yarn is some hand spun wool that I purchased locally.
Still keeping it simple.
Just can't seem to concentrate on anything too involved lately, but I always feel like I need to be making something.
I thought playing with some pretty paper might snap me out of my mood.
So, I tried making some simple origami boxes.
Color always seems to cheer me up.
What do you do to beat the winter blahs?

In A Fog
It's hard to believe it's 4:00 in the afternoon and it looks like this outside.
It's been this way all day.
The air is warm today and there is still a lot of snow on the ground, so this is what happens I guess.
Not a good day for driving, but a great day for just relaxing at home.
Hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend.
