Ice In The Back Yard

We've had warmer temps here in PA for the past three days and it has caused a thaw and a breakup of the ice in the nearby creek.
It must have flooded over night.
There are huge chunks of ice at the halfway point between my house and the creek.
We've never had this happen here before.
The sound of the ice crashing into each other was crazy.
It was snapping large low hanging branches.
I have a feeling we will have some downed trees.
I just can't get over the size and thickness of this ice.

It's pouring rain now and the temp is dropping rapidly.
We are expecting freezing rain and 8 inches of snow tonight.
I can live without it for sure.
Karen

  3. Oh my gosh. That is amazing to see!
Crazy weather this year. We have only a couple of inches of snow on the ground here in Minnesota, but it is -8F. There will be a lot of dead plants come spring, without adequate snow cover for protection. Stay safe and warm! xo

    1. Hi Linda. Wow...-8 is cold. I think we had -4 last night. We got about 6 inches of new snow to go with it. I was thinking the same thing about the dead plants in the Spring. I may need to replace a lot of things again. Are you at your new place now? I've been out of touch with the world for so long that I feel like I've missed so much.

  4. Wow, Karen, I can't imagine the sounds as those ice blocks broke up. I've never seen anything like that come ashore - even in Northern Michigan. Take care, and stay busy!

    1. How are you doing? I've been out of touch with everyone for so long now. I was just downstairs in my craft room last week and I was admiring a lot of the wonderful things you sent to me. You've always been so kind. Hope all is well in your world!

    1. Hey Suzy. Can't wait for Summer breezes here. If I want to do any eco-dying here I'll have to buy things from the store. No plants here right now. I seriously love the paper you dyed. Very inspiring!
