Under Construction

I can't believe an entire week has gone by since my last post.

Things are a bit busy around here.

Once again, we are under construction.

We began building this place in 1998 and now we are not only trying to finish it, but we are working on a remodel at the same time.

Jack and I have been confined to the kitchen for the past few days and my craft supplies are buried under who knows what. I did manage to find some wooden spools and some vintage fabric in all of the mess, so I've been ripping the fabric into ribbons and wrapping them around the spools. 

Later I will use the ribbon for crocheting baskets and wrapping up packages.

It's something to do while I'm waiting to put things back together.

A Day Of Buttons

Over the years I've collected quite a few jars of buttons.

I finally took a day to sort through and organize them.

Although one day wasn't enough time to get them all sorted, I did manage to get through most of them.

 

 I was shocked at how dirty they were.

I spent another few hours cleaning the ones that I did sort.

Although I have jars filled with pretty antique glass ones, fancy metal ones, colorful ones, etc.

I like the bone ones best, but only found a handful of those.

The ones made of shell are my next favorite.

 I imagine them to have been from children's wear.

They're tiny, worn thin and the edges are no longer perfect.

I love how they look in the little antique bottles.

One of these days I'll get back to sorting the rest of them.

Primitive Hearts

As the snow continues to pile up around here, I find myself sorting through some of last summers flea market finds. Odds and ends that I picked up with the intention of using as craft supplies.

These primitive hearts were stitched together in a sort of wreath, but were coming apart.

 I added a few old buttons...

 and some string...

They are hanging in my kitchen until Valentine's Day and then they will go into the Jar of Hearts.

Nest Under Glass

The glass dome gives the nest a soft appearance.

It's so cold this morning, but I am inside, thinking of Spring.
