Today was the start of my landscaping.
We built our house 15 years ago (still a work in progress) and never did much landscaping.
Behind my house there use to be a big pond, but due to the handiwork of some muskrats it would no longer hold water. It's been a swamp of sorts for many years and a breeding ground for mosquitoes, however still a home for many wonderful little creatures. I was broken hearted at the thought of them being buried alive and had to do something to help them. My husband worked hard to dig a ditch and together with the men who came to operate the machinery, they encouraged frogs, snakes and turtles to move through the ditch and on toward their new home in the creek at the edge of the yard. I'm sure some probably got left behind, but hundreds of these little guys made it to the creek. I feel bad about the ones who didn't make it, but an honest effort was made to do the right thing.
My husband was a bit upset with me at first because you know "time is money", but went along with my wishes in the end.
I hope you're all having a good day where you are.
Thanks for visiting.
Karen
Oh Karen! God bless your soul, you did the right thing! Lovely creatures!
ReplyDeleteBravo to you for saving the critters. They eat moquitoes so are certainly friends of mine! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat an undertaking! I'm so glad you have a big heart to help these creatures survive!
