The Return

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that my sweet man had gone fishing with his daughters.
Anita couldn't be there this year as she is home in NC taking care of dear baby Vera.
This is the crew.
My sweet man is the third one from the left.
Along with my man and his girls are a few friends who also love to fish.
Here he is again with just his girls.
Only a few fish were caught, but a good time was had by all.
I'm happy they are back.

Playing With Roses

I've been in the loft this morning playing with my roses.
Everyone is still asleep and this is my time to enjoy.
Bet you're sick of seeing these flowers : )

Pink Roses In October

So...my husbands gone fishing and I bought pink roses for myself.
Not red ones like he usually gives me, but pink ones.
My favorite.
Is it crazy to buy myself roses?
I think not.
I've made it a tradition.
Just like my husband's fishing trip.
I'm enjoying the hell out of these roses.

Buy yourself some flowers.
You deserve them.

Gone Fishing

Each year at this time my husband packs up the truck with camping and fishing gear and heads off to Lake Ontario to spend the weekend with his daughters.
They look forward to this special time together camping and fishing and I enjoy the time doing girl stuff with my mom and daughter.
Yesterday we made freezer jam and did some shopping.
Today we baked apple pies and made home made chicken noodle soup.
Tomorrow we plan to take a drive to see the pretty Fall foliage.
So far it's been a great weekend over all.
Just look how happy Mom is.
It's her favorite weekend of the year.

Prairie Star

My chippy old window seemed like the perfect place for displaying my prairie star.

Instead of just using it as a Christmas decoration, I brought it out of storage and adorned it in a shabby chic fashion and now it hangs above the fireplace in my bedroom.

I know it's not a very original idea, but that's why I buy decor books.
Sometimes I'm inspired by other people's ideas and come up with my own twist on things and other times I just like their ideas straight up.

Anyway...I hope some of my ideas inspire others at times too.
Thanks for looking.

Shabby Dress Hangers

One of my favorite things to repurpose is old floral sheets.
Last year I made pajama pants from sheets and baskets which I crocheted from torn strips of sheets.
A few days ago I came across some of the leftover strips from the basket project and decided to put them to use. I covered ugly plastic hangers with them. Just tear your sheets or fabric into one inch wide strips, attach the end with a dab of hot glue, and start wrapping. Add a dab of glue every inch or two and a little at the end to secure the fabric strip in place.
 They are much prettier now.
I added some ribbon for tying on accessories.
The fabric keeps the dresses from sliding off the hangers.
Some pretty paper roses add a nice touch.
Such a simple project and a good way to use up some of those fabric scraps.

Thanks for stopping by!
