A Few Of My Favorite Things

Throughout the Holiday Season things get a little hectic around here.

I work hard to keep my home looking it's best, but my bedroom tends to get neglected.

After a while it starts to look like an explosion in there, so yesterday I spent the entire day sorting through the mess. I took a few photos of some of my favorite things while I was sorting and organizing to make it a little less like work.

I came across this dusty old photo of myself from 20 years ago.

I can hardly believe this is me.

I love this pink, satin, vintage glove box.

It was a gift from my very dear friend Sharon.

My sweet daughter surprised me with this pair of pink ballet slippers for Christmas.

She knew I wanted these to use as decor and photo props.

I found this in a thrift store last Spring while we were vacationing at Cape May, NJ.

Here it is again with a flower that I crocheted.

I purchased this pretty pink hat recently for just $2 at Yoder's Antique Mall here in Punxsy.

This chippy chalkware bookend is just so cute.

The heart shaped rock was given to me by my husband years ago as we walked along the beach together. I found it hidden away in a drawer. It brings back such special memories.

I love the way they sparkle and shine.

These gorgeous ornaments were a gift from Sharon too and although my decorations are all taken down and put away for next year, I couldn't pack these away. I have them hanging from an old window that sits above the fireplace in my bedroom. The thought of hiding these away until Christmas next year made me sad, so I'm leaving them right where they are. Thank you Sharon. I just love looking at these!

I had fun sorting through the mess and uncovering some of my favorite things. I even managed to vacuum, dust, and put clean linens on the bed.

I love it when I have the time to turn work into play.

Golden Trinket Boxes

I started a small collection of these wooden trinket boxes.

I found them at flea markets and junk shops while treasure hunting this past summer.

I'm not sure how old they are or what they were used for.

I only know that they are pretty, I like them and I can use them for organizing small things.

They all have lovely decoupaged pictures on them.

Perfect for holding jewelry.

In Love With Old Books

I've always loved collecting old books and thought I might share with you a few of my latest finds. The one with the pretty lady on the front was a freebie from my local thrift shop. I was in there browsing and they announced that each customer was welcome to three free books. How nice was that? The children's book called "Ameliar-Anne and the Green Umbrella" was a flea market find from this past summer. It has the most lovely illustrations. The tiny "French Self Taught" was a free gift from an Etsy purchase I made of an old wooden bowl. Don't you just love old books?

Frilly Friday

I love the blogs that dedicate something special for each day of the week. I wait in anticipation for their beautiful images and creative ideas to spark my own creativity. I am greatful that these generous, talented women are willing to share the beauty of their worlds with me and I would like to think that I might be able to do the same for them. That being said... I am calling today "Frilly Friday". Here is a beautiful, lacey, envelope style pouch that was a gift from a dear friend many years ago. It's all satin and lace, and has faded a bit over the years, but still remains just as lovely. I found this old, white pillowcase with hand crocheted, lace edging that belonged to my grandmother. Such a treasure to find after all these years of being hidden away in a box. It brings back delightful memories of times spent with Grandma Anna.
